The Hong Kong Housing Authority and the Hong Kong Housing Society have submitted a revised proposal to the Town Planning Board for the redevelopment of the Dapeng West New Town in Shek Kip Mei. The updated plan increases the number of residential units from the original 3,343 to 4,189, an addition of 846 units. The redevelopment site covers approximately 225,000 square feet. Under the new proposal, the height limits are relaxed from the previous maximum of 90 metres and 140 metres to 143 metres and 180 metres, respectively. The project is divided into two sub‑sites. Site 1 is earmarked for the Housing Society to provide replacement units for residents affected by the demolition of the existing Dapeng West Estate, maintaining a total of 1,289 units. Site 2 is proposed to be developed by the Housing Authority, offering “first‑time home purchase” units for Hong Kong residents. This portion will employ a modular construction method, allowing up to 10% of the total floor area to be exempt from the height restriction. Consequently, the number of units on Site 2 will increase from 2,058 to 2,900. The revised proposal was released on 31 October 2026 at 10:16 HKT.
