Woman Accused in TT$20 Million Fraud Case Granted TT$6 Million Bail

Jackqui Watson, previously known as Watson-Vincent, who has been accused of involvement in an alleged TT$20 million fraudulent cheque scheme, was granted TT$6 million bail on June 22, 2026. She has been ordered to surrender her passport as she awaits the outcome of her court proceedings.

The court’s decision was given by Master Abraham. The matter was adjourned to 5 November 2026 for a Status Hearing, and a Sufficiency Hearing is scheduled for 10 November 2026.

Watson’s charges are the result of an investigation by the Fraud Squad and the Special Investigations Unit. The investigation was initiated following the deposit of a purported TT$20 million government cheque into an account held by a company at a commercial bank.

The cheque, which appeared to have been issued by the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, was later found not to be genuine. By the time the discrepancy was discovered, more than TT$18 million had reportedly been withdrawn or otherwise disposed of from the account.

Following her arrest on 18 June 2026 and subsequent legal consultations, Watson was charged on 20 June 2026 with one count of Obtaining Money by False Pretence involving the alleged TT$20 million and one count of Money Laundering.
