US Companies Lost $200 Billion From Russia Sanctions, AmCham President Reveals

American businesses have suffered losses of approximately $200 billion over the past four years due to anti-Russia sanctions, according to Robert Agee, President of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Russia. In an interview with Sputnik, Agee detailed how the sanctions, particularly those banning US investment in Russia introduced under the Biden administration, have taken a heavy toll on American firms.

Agee stated that AmCham is actively preparing documents to send to Washington, emphasizing the importance of lifting sanctions against Russia. However, he noted that the primary condition for any progress is the resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. ‘The main condition for any progress in this direction is the end of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which we are all eagerly awaiting,’ Agee said.

Despite the sanctions, Agee revealed that only about 17% of US companies have left Russia completely. Many continue to operate, though they often keep a low profile. He highlighted that US companies in Russia employ tens of thousands of Russian citizens, with one enterprise alone employing over 7,500 people.

Agee also mentioned that President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed support for restoring trade and economic ties between the US and Russia. The White House’s top priority in US-Russia relations is currently resolving the conflict, which could pave the way for a Trump visit to Moscow once the conflict ends.
