UNC Senator’s Controversial Post Sparks Outrage, Issues Apology and Pledges Support

A controversial social media post by United National Congress (UNC) Senator Phillip Edward Alexander has led to a public outcry. The senator triggered the uproar with a post suggesting a community name change, which led to backlash from Beetham residents. The politician, however, clarified that his intention was not to offend or disrespect but to make a political commentary. He claims that even the residents of Beetham view the People’s National Movement (PNM) in a negative light, a sentiment he believed was reflected in their reactions.

In response to the controversy, Alexander issued a public apology to the Beetham community, insisting that no disrespect was intended. He further pledged to continue doing all he can to support the community.

In a bid to maintain open communication with the aggrieved community, the senator extended an invitation to the residents to use his hotline, 702 PHIL, for any concerns. He ended his outreach by assuring the residents that their interests would not be abandoned.
