Former U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the election results, characterizing the AfD as a movement on the rise. In a statement, Trump used the phrase “Make Germany Great Again” to encourage the party and described the election outcome as a “really big night.”
CDU leader Friedrich Merz expressed shock at the election results on Monday. Despite the outcome, Merz stated his intention to continue working toward the success of the current federal coalition government. Former Chancellor Angela Merkel also addressed the results, stating that as a CDU member, the outcome caused her personal distress.
In the state parliament in Magdeburg, political adjustments are underway. The incumbent Minister President, identified as Schulze, has been elected as the new leader of the CDU parliamentary group. Additionally, Schulze has proposed that a significant political position should not be allocated to Saxony-Anhalt.
