Scott McTominay and Napoli suffer shock loss amid transfer speculation as Scotland duo land win

**Napoli Lose Home Match to Como as Transfer Rumours Swirl Around Scott McTominay**

Napoli were defeated 2‑1 by Como in a Serie A fixture at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Saturday, a setback in the club’s title challenge. The result came in the first home game for new head coach Max Allegri, who succeeded Antonio Conte earlier this summer.

Como took the lead in the first half through Croatian midfielder Martin Baturina, who also assisted Anastasios Douvikas for the second goal. Napoli’s Rasmus Hojlund reduced the deficit before halftime, but the visitors held on for the win.

Napoli made a triple substitution at the hour mark, with Scott McTominay being taken off after 56 minutes and replaced by Kevin de Bruyne. Fellow Scotland international Billy Gilmour remained an unused substitute.

McTominay, who joined Napoli from Manchester United in 2024 and helped the club secure the Serie A title in his debut season, is reportedly the subject of interest from Turkish side Fenerbahçe. According to Turkish media, the Istanbul club is monitoring the midfielder, although he is contracted to Napoli until the summer of 2028 and any potential move would require a substantial offer.

In other Serie A matches, Scotland internationals Josh Doig and Kieron Bowie started for Sassuolo as they beat Torino 2‑1 at home. Che Adams, another Scottish striker, featured for Torino. Lennon Miller entered as a substitute for Udinese in their 3‑2 away victory over Monza. Lewis Ferguson’s Bologna side travel to Atalanta on Monday evening.

The outcomes keep Napoli’s position in the league table uncertain while transfer speculation continues around McTominay.
