Scientists find major changes in deep Adriatic waters

Scientists at the Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI) have completed a 75‑year analysis of data from the deep Adriatic Sea, revealing significant changes in the Mediterranean basin.

The study, which examined long‑term measurements of temperature, salinity, and other oceanographic parameters, found that the deep waters of the Adriatic have undergone notable shifts over the past seven and a half decades.

According to the researchers, these changes indicate a broader trend affecting the Mediterranean Sea, although the full implications for marine ecosystems and regional climate remain under investigation.
