**Saudi Arabia Prepares for Enhanced IAEA Nuclear Oversight**
**DUBAI** – Saudi Arabia is preparing to grant the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) expanded verification and monitoring powers regarding its civil nuclear activities, according to IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
The enhanced oversight measures are being developed as part of a planned civil nuclear partnership between Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Grossi stated on Monday that while the kingdom is moving toward increased transparency, the arrangements currently under development will not constitute a formal adoption of the IAEA Additional Protocol. The Additional Protocol serves as the agency’s standard instrument for expanded inspections and oversight of nuclear programs.
The proposed framework aims to provide the IAEA with greater access to monitor sensitive nuclear activities, though the specific scope of these measures remains subject to the ongoing negotiations between the involved parties.
