Sénégal : ces femmes qui font l’économie

In Senegal, women are increasingly taking leadership roles in key sectors of the economy, including construction (BTP), agro‑food, and fintech. While they remain a minority in top management positions, their presence is growing across the private sector. A 2024 World Bank survey found that only 16 % of formal private‑sector companies in Senegal are headed by women, compared with an average of 18 % across sub‑Saharan Africa. Women are most visible in commerce and services, but they are also establishing themselves in other industries such as construction, agriculture, and financial technology. The focus now is on scaling up these gains. After expanding activities, fostering innovation, and improving access to financing, the next challenge for Senegalese women entrepreneurs is to broaden their impact and achieve greater representation at the highest levels of business leadership.
