Retired Officer Found Alive After Forest Search in Penal

A missing retired police officer has been found alive following a tense search operation in a forested area of Penal. Ruthven Ian Atkinson, 57, from Princes Town, was located deep within a teak field shortly before nightfall on Sunday, after he had gone missing the previous day.

The search commenced when Atkinson disappeared on Saturday while heading towards the Bunsee Trace mud volcano. According to reports, he had walked ahead of the group he was with and did not return, raising concerns for his safety.

The Hunters Search and Rescue Team, under the leadership of Vallence Rambharat, spearheaded the effort to locate Atkinson. After hours of searching through dense terrain, the team found him in a severely dehydrated state, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Fortunately, the rescue operation concluded with positive news as Atkinson was found alive. This incident highlights the risks associated with outdoor activities and the importance of remaining vigilant in unfamiliar environments.
