The Port TT Releases ‘Receipts’ Following Gio Interview
The Port TT has taken its dispute with businessman Gio public, releasing WhatsApp screenshots and voice recordings following comments he made during a recent interview on the Dai Good Talk podcast. The Port TT later said the video was removed after it began publishing what it described as “receipts” challenging Gio’s account, and a subsequent check by TG News found that the recent interview was no longer publicly available.
The controversy centres on competing accounts of a business arrangement involving Gio and The Port TT, including an alleged outstanding balance, the closure or relocation of a business operation and what led to the apparent breakdown of the relationship.
During the interview, Gio reportedly discussed the financial difficulties surrounding the business and money allegedly owed. Promotional material surrounding the interview also framed part of the discussion around the question of how payment of a debt could be expected when the business itself had failed.
Following the interview, The Port TT began releasing material on its Facebook page which it said presented another side of the story.
In one pointed post accompanying a recording, The Port TT wrote: “People keep listening to this clown. As he say no one has to know the truth it’s all about promotion.”
The business also released what appears to be a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation with a contact saved as “Gio Personal.”
$12,200 Balance Alleged
One of the messages shown in the screenshot states that by the first week of August, the recipient’s outstanding balance would amount to $12,200.
The sender requested payment of at least 50 per cent of the amount, warning that failure to make the requested payment would result in the recipient having to close the business at the compound.
A subsequent message refers to copies of two documents being returned for signing. Several voice notes are also visible in the exchange.
The Port TT accompanied the screenshot with the caption: “Avoid signing contracts.”
The screenshot does not establish the complete financial history between the parties, whether the $12,200 represented rent or other obligations, whether subsequent payments were made, or the full terms of any agreement.
New Location Disputed
The Port TT also released material challenging the circumstances surrounding the announcement of a new location.
In a transcript from one of the recordings reviewed by TG News, a speaker questions why a “new location” needed to be announced and suggests that doing so was intended to avoid creating the impression that the previous operation had failed.
The speaker says there was no need to make the announcement in that manner, before adding that “you’ve got to bring reality to it.”
The recording appears to form part of The Port TT’s attempt to challenge the explanation surrounding the move and what happened at the previous location.
Interview No Longer Available
The Port TT subsequently said that the video containing the interview had been removed after it began releasing its screenshots and recordings.
A check by TG News after the claim was made found that the recent interview was no longer publicly available where it had previously been promoted.
While that supports The Port TT’s assertion that the video was no longer available, TG News has not independently established why it was removed or whether its removal was directly connected to the release of the screenshots and recordings.
Social Media Users Divided
The public dispute has generated significant discussion online.
Some commenters have sided with The Port TT, questioning the alleged outstanding payments and supporting the business’s decision to publicly defend its position.
Others have criticised the decision to release private conversations and recordings, arguing that disputes involving rent, contracts and payments should be addressed privately through formal business or legal channels.
Other commenters urged both sides to resolve the disagreement, noting that businesses can encounter financial difficulties.
The controversy has therefore moved beyond the alleged debt itself, with debate now surrounding both the circumstances of the business relationship and the decision to make private communications public.
Competing Accounts Remain
The screenshots and recordings released by The Port TT provide another account of a dispute that had already entered the public domain through Gio’s interview.
However, the material represents communications selected and released by one party to the disagreement. Without the complete contractual documents, payment records and full communications between those involved, the releases alone cannot establish all of the circumstances surrounding the breakdown of the business relationship.
What is clear is that the dispute has escalated considerably, with The Port TT publicly challenging Gio’s account and using messages and recordings it says support its version of events.
The Port TT maintains that the public was not initially given the complete story.
