As the Tobago House of Assembly elections draw near, concerns are rising over the removal of campaign materials of contesting candidates. Akeel Guy, a PNM Candidate, has had his campaign flag removed in Tobago, an incident that was notably witnessed by his opponent, the current incumbent. This has raised questions about campaign conduct, especially as the incident occurred so close to the election day. While candidates are allowed to manage their own campaign materials, the removal of other candidates' materials or presence during such actions could affect public confidence in a fair electoral process. Similar incidents involving campaign materials of other candidates have also been reported, suggesting a broader pattern that needs attention. As the campaign reaches its final stage, the public expects all candidates and their supporters to uphold democratic norms, electoral fairness, and voters' right to clear and uninterrupted access to campaign information.
