PM Shehbaz Sharif Tells Afghanistan: Stop Cross-Border Terrorism or Face Consequences

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday issued a strong call to the Afghan interim government, urging it to prevent its territory from being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. Speaking at the Balochistan National Workshop in Islamabad, the premier stressed that Pakistan seeks friendly ties with Afghanistan but cannot tolerate cross-border attacks.

He highlighted the 2,000-kilometre border shared by the two nations and called for concrete action to stop militant groups from operating from Afghan soil. The statement comes amid rising security concerns in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sharif also reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to Balochistan’s development, vowing to accelerate infrastructure and economic projects in the province. The workshop aimed to address regional challenges and chart a path for progress.

Analysts see the address as a balancing act between diplomatic outreach and a firm security posture. The Afghan government has yet to officially respond to the prime minister’s remarks.
