Main Points
Residents of the Ogre region are being urged to support local resident Jelena Kapitonova, who is seeking financial assistance for cancer treatment. Kapitonova was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer with liver metastases five years ago. Despite undergoing surgery and various treatments, her condition progressed this year, exhausting standard medical options.
Following a molecular tumor analysis conducted in Estonia, doctors identified a specific therapy suitable for her condition. However, the treatment is not covered by the state, and the family has been unable to secure funding through the manufacturer or individual compensation programs from the National Health Service.
The required therapy costs 5,216.96 euros every three weeks, with a total treatment course estimated at 52,169.60 euros. According to the charity platform Ziedot.lv, 559 donors have contributed 9,414 euros toward the goal so far. Supporters are encouraged to donate through the Ziedot.lv website to help Kapitonova begin the necessary treatment immediately.
