**India Remains Unbeaten on Day One of Pickleball World Cup in Vietnam**
**DA NANG, Vietnam** – The Indian pickleball contingent concluded the first day of the Team Event at the 2026 Pickleball World Cup with an unbeaten record. The tournament, which is being held in Da Nang, Vietnam, is scheduled to run through September 6, 2026.
During the league stage, the Indian professional squad—comprising Harsh Mehta, Arjun Singh, Anish Froilan, Aman Patel, Pearl Amalsadiwala, Naomi Amalsadiwala, Aaliya Ebrahim, and Mihika Yadav—secured victories against Antigua and Barbuda, Israel, and the Czech Republic. According to the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), India defeated Antigua and Barbuda and Israel with identical 6-0 scorelines, followed by a 5-1 victory over the Czech Republic.
Each tie in the competition consists of six matches: Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, two Mixed Doubles matches, Women’s Singles, and Men’s Singles. Following their successful league performance, the Indian team is set to face Portugal in the round of 32 on Friday.
“The team morale is very high; we have started the tournament with positive energy and great results,” said Harsh Mehta, captain of the India team. “We are preparing mentally for eliminations tomorrow.”
The India Senior squad also advanced to the round of 32 after defeating Germany and Nepal with 4-0 scores in both ties. The senior team is led by Suryaveer Singh Bhullar, who serves as the President of the Indian Pickleball Association.
“We are currently in 4th place on the medal tally, and we are confident that we will move a few places if this momentum continues,” Bhullar stated.
Prior to the start of the Team Event, the Indian delegation had secured 37 medals in the tournament, including 6 gold, 16 silver, and 15 bronze medals. Notable gold medalists include Vishal Choudhary and Siddharth Reddy (40+ Men’s Doubles), Bhushan Akut and Ashok Rohira (60+ Men’s Doubles), Bhushan Akut (60+ Men’s Singles), Bhushan Akut (60+ Mixed Doubles), Vivek Reddy (40+ Men’s Singles), and Fayrouz Zaidi (40+ Women’s Singles).
