President Peter Mutharika met with leaders of the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) on Friday to discuss strategies for economic recovery.
During the meeting, Mutharika urged private sector participants to collaborate in efforts to strengthen the country’s economy. He highlighted the need for joint action in areas such as foreign exchange generation, responding to the impacts of El Niño, and promoting trade.
MCCCI president Ronald Ngwira pledged the business community’s support for initiatives aimed at mitigating the effects of El Niño and boosting trade activity. He also noted that the industry is presenting practical proposals to address the economic challenges Malawi faces.
