More than 1,200 disaster relief volunteers have entered Kumamoto Prefecture to assist with recovery efforts. The influx of volunteers began this month, after local municipalities started accepting them. To coordinate the relief efforts, disaster volunteer centers have been established in 11 municipalities within the prefecture. The volunteers are providing aid to areas affected by the earthquake in Kumamoto.
