A photographer was accused of assaulting a court staff member during a hearing in Länsi‑Uusimaa District Court on Thursday. The case concerned sexual‑assault charges against Makwan Amirkhan, a former professional boxer. The incident occurred shortly after the court session began. Kari Uoti, a legal assistant for Amirkhan who was on sick leave, was resting her leg on a nearby chair. According to Uoti, photographer Ivan Bessedin, who was walking with a camera, stepped on her leg. She shouted at him and “shouted” in the courtroom. Bessedin said he felt a “sharp blow” near his left kidney. He claimed he turned, apologized, and that Uoti stood up and shouted at him with both hands, causing him to fall. He stated that the judge saw the incident and that Uoti had spoken loudly to him. Bessedin maintains that his movement was not intended to hit Uoti and that he would have noticed if he had stepped on her foot or accidentally touched her shoulder. He added that he has never experienced a similar situation in his 25‑year career and that he does not understand Uoti’s reaction. Bessedin said he moved the photographer away from his leg and that the act was intentional. He described the incident as a “strong move” and said it could not be called a “movement.” Amirkhan is charged with forcing a sexual act. The case is being handled by the Länsi‑Uusimaa District Court. The owner of the case is musician Mira Luoti. Article source: Iltalehti | Image credit: Iltalehti
