Nova unitat i suport 1 a 1 per a casos complexos a l’Albó

The Catalan government, in partnership with the Private Foundation Nostra Senyora de Meritxell and the Catalan Association of Social Services (CASS), has undertaken a review of social and residential resources for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The aim is to better meet the needs of individuals whose personal, behavioural or mental‑health requirements demand more specialised attention, ensuring comprehensive, individualised and person‑centred care. As part of the forthcoming renewal of the collaboration agreement, the parties have agreed to establish a new specialised residential unit. The unit will serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who also require extensive support due to significant difficulties in behavioural, emotional or adaptive regulation linked to mental‑health problems. The facility is intended to provide a higher level of support that promotes well‑being, coexistence, community participation and the maintenance of residents within their residential setting. Minister of Social Affairs Trini Marín confirmed the plans during a briefing with Pere Baró, deputy president of the Social Democratic parliamentary group, who asked about the operation of the Albó. Marín explained that the new agreement will include an intensive support service with a 1:1 staff‑to‑resident ratio for users who need continuous, dedicated care. The service is designed to deliver tailored, comprehensive support for each case, while recognising that some individuals may still require alternative care arrangements.
