New Citizen First Party Launches, Calls for Vote of No Confidence Against UNC

A new political force has entered Trinidad and Tobago’s political arena. The Citizen First Party (CPF) announced its upcoming launch in a video address, with its leader sharply criticizing the current UNC government and calling for a vote of no confidence in the 2027 general elections.

The speaker, representing the CPF, accused the UNC of ‘revenge politics’ and failing to deliver on promises made to the electorate. ‘A vote for the UNC was supposed to reverse PNM hardship policies, but citizens now face broken pledges,’ he said. The party is positioning itself as an alternative for the youth, who he claimed need relief, opportunity, and a real future.

The CPF leader also alleged that the UNC government has mismanaged the economy, citing borrowing of $800 million US, and promised to prosecute corrupt ministers if the CPF comes to power. The party is urging citizens to treat the next elections as a referendum on the UNC’s performance.
