MEXICALI, Baja California — Rosina del Villar Casas, leader of MORENA in Baja California, sharply criticized the National Action Party (PAN) on Wednesday, accusing it of defending criminals amid ongoing legal battles involving former governor Jaime Bonilla Ruffo.
Del Villar demanded that the PAN stop shielding alleged criminals and emphasized that the pursuit of justice against Ruffo is non-negotiable. Her remarks come after PAN representatives reportedly expressed support for Ruffo, who faces corruption allegations.
‘We will not allow anyone to obstruct justice,’ Del Villar said during a press conference. ‘The PAN must choose: defend the people or defend those accused of wrongdoing.’
The exchange highlights deepening political divisions in Baja California, where corruption cases have become a rallying point for both parties ahead of upcoming elections.
MORENA officials have vowed to continue legal proceedings against Ruffo, rejecting any calls for leniency.
