RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday called for a shift from authority-based parenting to dialogue, saying today’s younger generation questions instructions and expects explanations. Speaking at the Vishwa Mangalya Sabha’s Prabodhan meeting in Delhi, Bhagwat said, “When we were young, it was an era of obedience. That’s not the case anymore. The new generation asks questions. We have to explain the reasoning to them.” He stressed that parents must respond with reason, affection, and meaningful conversations instead of expecting unquestioning obedience. Bhagwat also noted a worrying trend: “Conversations have stopped within families,” highlighting the need to rebuild dialogue to strengthen family bonds. The event, organized by the independent women’s organization Vishwa Mangalya Sabha, focused on contemporary motherhood and women’s role in society. Bhagwat serves as the organization’s patron.
