Minister for the Presidency Babirye Milly Babalanda commended the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, for his efforts in promoting youth skilling and household wealth creation. The remarks were made during the 12th Coronation Anniversary celebrations held at the Mayuge District Headquarters.
The event, themed Strengthening Our Cultural Norms and Values for Development, was attended by various dignitaries, including Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Third Deputy Prime Minister Rukia Isanga Nakadama, and Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga. During the ceremony, Minister Babalanda noted that the Kyabazinga’s initiatives align with government programs, such as the Presidential Skilling Hubs, aimed at reducing poverty and unemployment.
Minister Babalanda highlighted the Kyabazinga’s recent visit to Budiope West on September 9, 2026, where he launched infrastructure projects at Kitaidhumbwa Community Primary School and encouraged the cultivation of coffee and cocoa. She further urged the people of Busoga to utilize government initiatives, including the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, and the Four-Acre Model, to improve their economic standing.
During her address, the Minister expressed appreciation for the Kyabazinga’s support in representing the Busoga Kingdom at the recent funeral of the mother of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro. She also encouraged public participation in the upcoming Busoga Prayer Week, scheduled for September 21 to 26, 2026.
Minister Babalanda concluded by inviting the public to a thanksgiving ceremony on September 23, 2026, at Iringa Township Primary School in Buyende District, where President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to serve as the chief guest.
