Minerd suspende docencia este martes en zonas vulnerables de provincias bajo alerta amarilla

The Ministry of Education (Minerd) announced that it would suspend classes on Tuesday in schools located in vulnerable areas of provinces under a yellow alert, following weather conditions caused by a trough affecting the national territory. The suspension is intended to prevent risks in schools situated near rivers, canyons, coastal zones, and landslide-prone areas. According to a situational report from the Directorate of Environmental Management and Risks, based on the Emergency Operations Center (COE) bulletin issued Monday at 7:00 p.m., ten provinces are under yellow alert and seven are under green alert. Local educational authorities have reported unfavorable conditions for teaching, prompting the recommendation of a preventive suspension in at-risk schools. Minerd said that the implementation of the suspension will be coordinated with regional and district directors, taking into account the specific conditions of each affected area and the identified risks. For schools in green‑alert regions, the ministry reminded that if a suspension occurs outside regular working hours, the relevant educational authorities must ensure the enforcement of protocols to protect school resources. The ministry’s Directorate of Environmental Management and Risks is monitoring 11 educational regions within the influence area of the weather event. Preventive measures include maintaining an active Situational Board at the central office, monitoring meteorological conditions through regional and district links, and coordinating with the COE.
