**Military Region 7 Commences Search for Vietnamese Martyrs’ Remains in Cambodia**

**TAY NINH, Vietnam** – Military Region 7 has officially launched the 26th phase of its mission to search for and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia during wartime. The operation is scheduled to take place throughout the 2026–2027 dry season.

A send-off ceremony for the search teams was held at the Long Khot Fort National Historical Site in Tuyen Binh Commune, Tay Ninh Province. The event was organized by the Military Region 7 Steering Committee for the Search, Collection, and Identification of Martyrs’ Remains (Steering Committee 515) in coordination with the Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee.

Attendees included Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Political Affairs of the Vietnam People’s Army, along with leadership from Military Region 7, Tay Ninh, and Dong Nai provinces. The mission involves personnel from the K70, K71, K72, and K73 teams.

For the upcoming dry season, search teams are tasked with investigating 185 information leads, which reportedly concern the locations of 761 graves. Each team has been assigned a target of recovering at least 100 sets of remains during their deployment.

Major General Tran Chi Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 7, described the mission as a “special political mission of profound humanitarian significance.” He stated that the effort serves to honor those who died while fulfilling Vietnam’s international obligations and to uphold the national tradition of gratitude.

This search phase aligns with the broader “500-Day Campaign to Intensify the Search, Recovery, and Identification of Martyrs’ Remains,” an initiative currently being implemented across the Vietnamese political and military systems.
