Mário Semedo has been elected president of the West African Football Union – Zone A (WAFU‑A), succeeding Gambian former president Lamine Badjo, whose term had ended. The election was held during the WAFU‑A congress, which also established the new executive committee.

### Executive Committee

– **First Vice‑President:** Babadi Kamara, Sierra Leone
– **Second Vice‑President:** Mahazou (Baba Cisset), Mali

Semedo will lead the nine‑nation zone that includes Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea‑Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal, and Sierra Leone. The composition of Zone A is recognized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

### About WAFU‑A

WAFU‑A is one of two zones that make up the West African Football Union (WAFU/UFOA), the governing body for national football federations in West Africa. The union is divided into Zone A and Zone B, each comprising a group of member associations.

Semedo’s election follows the conclusion of Badjo’s mandate and marks a new chapter for the organization as it prepares to oversee regional competitions and development initiatives across its member countries.
