LUMA alerta sobre posibles relevos de carga por déficit de generación eléctrica

SAN JUAN – LUMA Energy warned Wednesday that Puerto Rico could face additional load-shedding interruptions due to a deficit in power generation. The utility company reported that the San Juan CT 5 and Aguirre 2 generation units remain out of service, with no estimated time for their return to operation. In a written statement, LUMA cited information from Genera PR, the private operator of the island’s power plants, confirming that the lack of available generation capacity has created instability in the electrical system. LUMA stated that it is coordinating with generation companies from its control center to manage system conditions and mitigate the impact of potential outages. “We know that these interruptions impact our families, businesses, and communities,” the company stated. “That is why, as soon as we observe changes in the system and a reduction in available generation, we communicate it.” LUMA did not specify the number of customers who might be affected or provide a schedule for potential service interruptions. The company committed to providing further updates regarding the status of the electrical grid, the specific areas subject to load shedding, and estimated restoration times as information becomes available.
