Koalicioni intercepton një raketë balistike të Huthi-ve drejt Riadit dhe një dron mbi rajonin e kryeqytetit

The Saudi-led coalition announced on Monday that its air‑defence forces intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia toward Riyadh. The missile was intercepted while en route to the capital, according to Brigadier General Turki Al‑Maliki, the coalition’s spokesperson, as reported by the Qatar news agency QNA. Earlier that day the coalition also reported the interception of a drone over the Riyadh region, a claim that was repeated on Saturday evening. The two incidents suggest that aerial attacks on the Saudi capital have continued for at least two consecutive days. Saudi Civil Defence issued a warning through the United Nations Early Warning Platform, advising residents of Riyadh to remain calm and follow official instructions. A short time later the agency announced that the risk had passed, urging citizens to avoid gatherings and filming and to dial the emergency number 911 if needed. No casualties or damage were reported in the latest intercepts. The missile interception follows a series of earlier attacks. On Saturday the coalition said it had intercepted a ballistic missile aimed at Riyadh, as well as missiles targeting Taif and Yanbu, and a drone in the Eastern Province. The same day King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh reopened operations from two terminals after a temporary closure following an attack on October 10. The Houthi group, which is backed by Iran, has repeatedly warned that the airport remains a military target. The coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and supporting the internationally recognised government of Yemen, maintains that its air‑defence systems intercept the majority of Houthi attacks before they reach their intended targets. The ongoing conflict, which has escalated regional tensions between the United States and Iran, has seen the Houthi militia conduct missile and drone strikes against Saudi airports, oil facilities and military bases.
