Keiko Fujimori visitará la megacárcel Cecot durante su viaje oficial a El Salvador

Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori Arrives in El Salvador for Four‑Day Official Visit Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori landed in El Salvador on Wednesday, 28 October, for a four‑day official visit that includes a private meeting with President Nayib Bukele and a tour of the Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (Cecot), one of the country’s main penitentiary facilities. Fujimori was welcomed with honors by the Salvadoran Foreign Minister Alexandra Hill Tinoco at the San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez International Airport, located about 45 kilometres from San Salvador. She is scheduled to visit the Cecot in Tecoluca, 72 kilometres from the capital, on Thursday. The visit will be accompanied by Salvadoran Minister of Justice and Public Security Gustavo Villatoro. During the tour, Fujimori will observe the “Cero Ocio” social reintegration program, police training processes, and the legal framework used by El Salvador to combat organized crime. The official agenda continues on Friday, 30 October, with a meeting with Minister of Health Francisco Alabi and a visit to Hospital Rosales. In the afternoon, Fujimori will meet with Minister of Education, Science and Technology Karla Trigueros to learn about a prominent public school. Peruvian Congress President Miguel Torres described the trip as “fundamental” and “a success,” noting that it will allow Peru to learn from El Salvador’s experience in controlling crime and insecurity. Torres added that the visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance tools for citizen security, penitentiary security, and justice administration, as well as strategies for preventing and combating organized crime. The delegation also intends to identify cooperation opportunities that could reinforce the state’s institutional capacity to fight transnational crime and improve the penitentiary system. The Peruvian Senate approved Fujimori’s request to travel to El Salvador from 28 to 31 October and hold a private meeting with President Bukele on 7 October.
