The Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) have arrested a man accused of running a rental scam that preyed on displaced families. The Cybercrime and Intellectual Property Protection Office apprehended George El Achkar, a Lebanese national born in 1990, after tracking a series of fraud cases carried out through social media platforms.
According to the ISF, the suspect posted fake rental listings online, targeting vulnerable families in need of housing. The investigation led to his arrest, and authorities are urging the public to verify property listings and report suspicious activity.
The arrest highlights the growing threat of online scams amid Lebanon’s economic crisis, where displaced families are especially vulnerable. The ISF continues to investigate whether there are additional accomplices.
