Influenza vaccines now available at public health facilities across T&T.

The Ministry of Health has announced that influenza vaccines for the 2026/2027 season are now available at public health facilities throughout Trinidad and Tobago, urging citizens, particularly those at greater risk of serious complications, to get vaccinated.

In its latest media release, the Ministry emphasised the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals against severe influenza-related illness.

Children between six months and five years old, adults aged 65 and older, pregnant women, and people living with chronic medical conditions are among those being strongly encouraged to receive the vaccine.

The Ministry specifically identified individuals living with non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and asthma, as priority groups.

Healthcare workers are also being encouraged to get vaccinated because of their potential exposure to influenza and their contact with vulnerable patients.

For pregnant women, the Ministry highlighted an additional benefit, noting that vaccination can help provide protective immunity to babies after birth.

The Ministry is also encouraging relatives and caregivers of vulnerable individuals to support vaccination efforts.

Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness that can cause serious complications, particularly among those with underlying medical conditions and weakened immune systems.

Members of the public are encouraged to visit their nearest public health facility for information on accessing the 2026/2027 influenza vaccine.
