India’s digital payments ecosystem has reached a new milestone, with nearly 55.49 crore users now onboarded onto the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) as of June this year, the government informed Parliament on Monday.
Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary shared the figures in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, highlighting the continued growth of digital transactions in the country. The data underscores the rapid adoption of UPI, which has become a cornerstone of India’s financial infrastructure.
The milestone reflects the government’s push for a cashless economy and the increasing trust among users in digital payment systems. UPI has enabled seamless transactions for millions, driving financial inclusion across urban and rural areas.
