**Federal authorities seize nearly two tonnes of drugs concealed in coconut sweets in Tabasco**
Mexico’s federal law‑enforcement agencies reported the seizure of a large narcotics shipment on a cargo truck traveling the Coatzacoalcos‑Villahermosa highway in the state of Tabasco.
During a routine inspection of the vehicle, officials discovered 1,822 kilograms of marijuana and 81 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden among what appeared to be coconut‑flavored sweets. The drugs were packed in containers that resembled the confectionery, a method intended to conceal the illicit cargo.
The operation, carried out by federal authorities, resulted in the confiscation of the entire shipment. No information was released regarding arrests, the identity of the individuals responsible for the transport, or the intended destination of the narcotics.
The seizure adds to ongoing efforts by Mexican security forces to combat drug trafficking routes that use commercial transport channels to move large quantities of illegal substances across the country.
