**Home and Community Care Ireland calls for €30m mileage fund in upcoming Budget**
Home and Community Care Ireland (HCCI) has called on the government to establish a €30 million mileage fund in the upcoming Budget to support home carers facing rising operational costs.
The representative body stated that “soaring fuel costs” are placing significant financial pressure on essential workers who rely on their personal vehicles to travel between clients’ homes.
According to HCCI, the proposed fund is intended to alleviate the burden on carers, many of whom are currently absorbing the costs of travel as part of their daily duties. The organization argues that such a measure is necessary to ensure the sustainability of home care services and to support the workforce amid ongoing economic challenges.
