Four secondary schools in Trinidad were evacuated after reported bomb threats prompted a police response and security searches on Friday. The affected schools were Arima North Secondary, El Dorado East Secondary, El Dorado West Secondary and Tunapuna Secondary. According to the Ministry of Education, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service responded after receiving information concerning threats involving the four schools. Officers from the Explosive Detection and Disposal Unit and Special Branch subsequently searched the compounds. No explosive devices or suspicious items were found. Following the security sweeps, police cleared all four schools and deemed them safe for the resumption of normal operations.
The Ministry said established school safety and emergency protocols were followed throughout the incident. These included coordination between school officials and the protective services, precautionary measures where necessary, and procedures for managing and accounting for students and staff during an emergency.
