Estate Constable Fires at Intruder During Early Morning Confrontation

A dramatic confrontation unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday morning along Lady Chancellor Road, when an estate constable discharged his firearm at an alleged intruder. The security officer, a 68-year-old resident of Poui Hill, was on duty at the time. He was alerted to a potential issue by the sound of a barking dog and suspicious noises on the property.

During his investigation of the property, the officer came across a man of East Indian descent who was reportedly drinking from a champagne bottle. The situation took a dangerous turn as the man noticed the officer, becoming aggressive and brandishing the broken champagne bottle as a weapon.

In response to the imminent threat, the estate constable, fearing for his life, drew his licensed Glock 19 firearm. He fired a single shot in the suspect’s direction. The suspect, however, managed to evade capture, fleeing further into the compound on foot.

It remains unclear whether the suspect sustained any injuries during the altercation. Investigations into the incident are currently underway by local authorities.
