In a daring daylight incident, a 43-year-old woman was robbed of her gold chain near South Quay in Port of Spain on Monday. The woman, a resident of Mausica Road in D’Abadie, was standing outside the Hong Kong Supermarket at the intersection of Broadway and South Quay when the incident unfolded around 3:18 p.m. She reported feeling a sudden tug at her neck, followed by the realization that her gold and Swarovski crystal chain, valued at $5,500, had been snatched.
Upon turning around, she spotted a man hastily walking away in a southerly direction toward the lighthouse. The suspect is described as being of East Indian descent having a light brown complexion, standing approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue pants and carrying a green bag at the time of the incident.
The police have been notified and are actively pursuing investigations into the incident. This incident underscores the urgency for increased vigilance and public safety measures in the area.
