Els bombers rescaten de matinada un home al refugi de Certascan, al Pirineu català

Andorran firefighters rescued a middle‑aged Spanish man from the Certascan refuge in the Vall de Cardós, in the Alt Pirineu, on a Saturday morning.

The rescue was carried out by the Mountain Rescue Group (GRM) of the Andorran fire service. Two GRM members were dispatched to the site at the request of the Andorran fire service, which does not operate at night. They were joined by two members of the Catalan Special Operations Support Group (GRAE) and a doctor.

The operation lasted one hour and fifteen minutes. The man, who was found to be in poor health, was evacuated by helicopter to the night heliport of Seu d’Urgell. Once there, the Catalan Emergency Medical System (SEM) took over his care.

According to the head of the Andorran fire service, the rescue was necessary because the man had become incapacitated at the refuge.

After the evacuation, the man was transferred to the heliport of Caubella for further medical attention.

Both the Andorran and Catalan fire services reported that the operation was completed successfully and that the man was receiving appropriate medical care.

For more information, the Andorran fire service and the Catalan fire service have provided statements to local media.
