El Kremlin ve «muy positiva» la reunión de rusos y ucranianos con Melania Trump

The Kremlin described as “very positive” a meeting held Thursday at the White House between Russian and Ukrainian representatives and U.S. First Lady Melania Trump. Presidential spokesman Dmitri Peskov stated during a daily press briefing that the meeting underscored a continued commitment to humanitarian efforts. The discussion focused on a humanitarian mission in Oleshki, a town in the Russian-occupied Kherson region, where residents had previously lacked access to basic necessities. According to the Kremlin, the mission was facilitated through the collaboration of the human rights ombudsmen from both nations. During the event, Melania Trump acknowledged the efforts of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin in securing a provisional ceasefire, which allowed for the delivery of aid and the evacuation of civilians. She noted that their cooperation “sets a significant precedent for the advancement of peace in the entire region.” The meeting was attended by Kiril Dmitriev, a special envoy for President Putin, and Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, who coordinated the Oleshki mission alongside his Russian counterpart, Yanna Lantratova. Addressing the attendees, the First Lady stated, “We must use the courage we brought to Oleshki to find common ground through the shared concern for the suffering of innocent people. Together, we can create something more lasting than a temporary ceasefire.” In recognition of her role as a mediator, President Zelenskyy awarded Melania Trump the Order of Princess Olga, First Class, a Ukrainian state decoration for women. The award was presented to her by Ukrainian representatives during Thursday’s proceedings. Separately, U.S. President Donald Trump met with Kiril Dmitriev on Thursday, stating that he anticipates a “great deal” that will encompass “more than just Ukraine.” These remarks precede the resumption of U.S.-mediated negotiations regarding the conflict, which are scheduled to reconvene on Tuesday, November 10, in Abu Dhabi after a nine-month hiatus.
