Drinking water safe across Lika, Rab and Pag after waste site concerns

**Croatian Health Authorities Confirm Drinking‑Water Safety in Lika, Rab and Pag**

*Zagreb, 27 August 2026* – The Ministry of Health and the Institute of Public Health announced that public drinking‑water supplies in the Lika region and on the islands of Rab and Pag have been tested and found to meet health‑safety standards.

The statement follows public concern over a waste‑management site near the town of Gospić, which prompted authorities to conduct additional water‑quality monitoring in the surrounding areas. Laboratory analyses showed that the water in the three locations complies with national and European Union regulations for potable water.

“The results confirm that the water distributed to households and businesses in Lika, Rab and Pag is safe for consumption,” the ministry said in a press release. “We will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep the public informed.”

No health advisories or restrictions on water use have been issued. The ministry urged residents to follow any future updates should conditions change.

The announcement was first reported by *Croatia Week* on its website.
