**Dancehall Artist D’Angel Leads School‑Supply Distribution in Western Jamaica**
*Kingston, Jamaica – September 1, 2026* – Jamaican dancehall performer D’Angel and members of her team are traveling to several communities in western Jamaica today to deliver school supplies to 300 children who were affected by Hurricane Melissa.
The distribution follows the cancellation of D’Angel’s annual back‑to‑school drive. The cancellation was attributed to “low support” at a benefit concert held last month at the Prison Oval in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. In a statement, D’Angel said the lack of attendance left her “very disheartened,” but that “out of every bad situation comes something good.” She added that a few sponsors responded to her appeal and agreed to assist with the western‑Jamaica effort.
“The low support in Spanish Town was discouraging,” D’Angel said. “I was having sleepless nights and felt like I was going into depression when I realized I couldn’t help the children. I am at a better place now that I can do something.” She thanked Designerbodys, Torpedo Loans and other partners for their contributions.
According to the artist, the team—including her son, Marco Dean Davis—has prepared 300 bags containing school supplies for the children. While the distribution is underway, D’Angel indicated that she is already planning her next charitable initiative, a “10‑year anniversary care‑package food drive” for the elderly and children scheduled for December. She said she will be approaching corporate entities in Jamaica to seek additional partnerships and sponsorships for that project.
The school‑supply drive aims to alleviate the educational disruptions caused by Hurricane Melissa, which damaged infrastructure and displaced families across the western parishes earlier this year. Local officials have not yet released figures on the total number of children impacted, but the distribution of 300 supply kits is expected to benefit a significant portion of those in need.
