**CTA President Confirms Casualty in Tibetan Settlement After Floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa District**

*Dharmshala, August 27, 2026* – The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) confirmed that a flash flood which struck the Nepal‑Tibet border on Wednesday caused at least one death among the Tibetan community residing in Rasuwa District, Nepal, and left many residents unaccounted for.

Penpa Tsering, President of the CTA, said the sudden deluge “has caused widespread destruction” and that Tibetan settlements on both sides of the border are facing “severe losses.” He did not provide a specific death toll, but noted that several Tibetan media outlets have reported fatalities among the displaced population.

Rasuwa, a mountainous district north of Kathmandu, was among the areas hardest hit by the flash flood, which swept through villages along the border region. The CTA’s statement indicated that many members of the Tibetan settlement remain missing, and that rescue and relief operations are ongoing.

The CTA has called for urgent humanitarian assistance for the affected communities and for coordinated efforts between Nepalese authorities and international aid agencies to address the immediate needs of those impacted by the disaster.

The situation remains fluid, and further details on the number of casualties and missing persons are expected as rescue teams continue their work in the region.
