CEC Gyanesh Kumar begins Gujarat visit to engage with members of Ahmedabad Management Association, BLOs

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar began a two-day official visit to Gujarat on Thursday to engage with various stakeholders, including members of the Ahmedabad Management Association, booth-level officers, academic leaders, and students.

During his visit, Kumar highlighted the historical significance of Gujarat, noting its role as the birthplace and center of activity for figures such as Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The visit is intended to facilitate interactions through a series of programs aimed at discussing electoral processes and democratic participation.

This visit follows a recent trip to Goa, where Kumar met with over 1,000 booth-level officers. During that engagement, he described these officers as the foundational pillar of the Indian electoral system and the primary interface between the Election Commission of India and the public. He emphasized that the preparation of electoral rolls and the conduct of elections are carried out in accordance with the Constitution of India and established legal guidelines.

In addition to his domestic engagements, Kumar met with the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to India, Francisco Manuel Compres H., at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi on Friday. The two parties discussed strengthening cooperation in election management and the training of election staff, building upon the framework established at the IICDEM 2026 conference.
