**Exam Fees for Canada’s Registered Nurses Rise Significantly**

*Toronto, Canada –* The cost of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), the mandatory exam for all newly graduated registered nurses and registered practical nurses in Canada, has increased sharply. Effective immediately, the fee for the Canadian version of the NCLEX has risen from $360 to $570, representing a 58 percent increase. The expense must be covered by the students themselves.

The Canadian Nursing Students Association (CNSA) has warned that the hike adds to the financial pressures already faced by nursing students. In a statement, the CNSA noted that the higher exam fee compounds existing challenges, including rising tuition costs, other licensing fees, and the requirement to complete hundreds of hours of unpaid clinical practice.

No comment has been received from the bodies responsible for setting the NCLEX fees. The increase is expected to affect all nursing graduates who intend to begin professional practice in Canada this year.
