**Tiger spotted near Thekkady Lake, delighting tourists**

*Idukki, Kerala – A tiger was seen walking along the shore of Thekkady Lake, a popular tourist destination in Kerala’s Idukki district, during a boat ride on the lake. The sighting was reported by Daily Thanthi and has since circulated widely on social media.*

Thekkady Lake lies on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu and attracts visitors from across India and abroad. Tourists routinely observe wildlife such as elephants, deer and sambar on the lake’s banks while on boat cruises.

During a recent three‑day holiday period, a boat that had been traveling to a location referred to as “Manakkavala” stopped in the lake to allow passengers to watch local wildlife. While the boat was stationary, a group of deer that had been grazing nearby fled in alarm. The boat crew and passengers then paused to see if any other animals were approaching.

At that moment, a large tiger crossed the lake, climbed a rock on the shore, and walked along the water’s edge. The sighting was described as “rare” by the passengers, who were reportedly delighted. Several tourists filmed the tiger on their mobile phones and posted the footage on social media, where it has become viral.

The incident was reported by Daily Thanthi, which noted that the video of the tiger’s walk has attracted significant online attention. No injuries or disturbances to the wildlife were reported.
