Japan Considers Alternative to Banning Social Media for Children
As several countries implement bans on social media for children, Japan is exploring a different approach to addressing the issue. According to a sociology professor, a blanket ban on social media for children could have unintended consequences. The professor warns that such a ban could drive children to less visible online spaces, or encourage them to lie about their age, making it more difficult to detect potential exploitation. Japan is currently considering its own strategy to regulate social media use among children.
