“Armenia has a great deal in common with Pakistan,” the ambassador says

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Moscow, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, has stated that Armenia and Pakistan share a significant amount of commonality. According to Tirmizi, Islamabad places great importance on strengthening relations with both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In a statement to TASS, Tirmizi noted that the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Armenia is a positive development. He mentioned that for many years, the two countries did not have formal diplomatic ties, but recent developments have led to a growing recognition of the need to establish normal relations.

Tirmizi highlighted the historical connections between Pakistan and the Caucasus region, including Azerbaijan. He pointed out that one of the largest districts in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, is called Multan Saray, named after Multan, a major city in Pakistan. Additionally, Tirmizi noted that there is a significant Armenian community in Pakistan and that a Pakistani soldier of Armenian descent has received one of the country’s highest military honors.

The ambassador expressed his optimism about the potential for people-to-people contacts and business relations between Armenia and Pakistan to develop. He emphasized that Armenia is an important part of the historical legacy of ties between Pakistan and the Caucasus region.
