Judiciary, Government Silent on Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi’s Health: No Worries, This Time Will Also Pass—Irshad Bhatti

Analyst Irshad Bhatti said on November 7, 2026 that the judiciary and government have remained silent about the health of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, adding that the situation would “pass” if it is not addressed. Bhatti recalled that during earlier detentions, other political figures received preferential medical treatment. He cited former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who reportedly received physiotherapy at Ministers’ Colony while in custody, and former President Asif Zardari, who was said to have had “preferred walks, preferred food, preferred meetings and round‑the‑clock medical facilities” while held by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Bhatti also mentioned that former Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi underwent hernia surgery at a private hospital during NAB custody, and that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was sent home from jail for six weeks, treated in three hospitals, and had doctors from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad brought together for his care. In a statement posted on X, Bhatti noted that the judiciary and government have not commented on the current health status of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, and he urged that the matter be taken seriously. PTI Secretary‑General Salman Akram Raja released a video statement on X in which he appealed to the nation to pay attention to Khan’s health. He said that a briefing by party spokesperson Salman Safdar had raised alarm about Khan’s condition. Raja said the party had informed Khan’s family—including his sons and sister—about the situation and had raised the issue at several levels within the party. He outlined three possible responses: (1) public resistance and street protests, (2) negotiation or a deal to secure Khan’s health, and (3) a appeal to the nation’s humanity to protect Khan’s life. Khan himself has spoken to Salman Safdar about his health, stating that his blood pressure had reached 192 at one point. He said the problem had persisted since August and that although changes in medication had been made, his condition had not improved. Khan urged the public to pray for his life, emphasizing his contributions to Pakistan over the past 60 years through initiatives such as Shaukat Khanum, Namal University and sports. He described his health as a humanitarian issue beyond politics and called for the immediate implementation of the Supreme Court’s August 18 order, for his personal doctors to be granted access, and for all his tests to be conducted at a laboratory trusted by him and his family.
