The Associated Press reported that U.S. Department of Homeland Security officials confirmed a security incident that occurred on Thursday evening near the White House. Secret Service agents observed a suspicious man sitting in a vehicle close to the presidential residence. The vehicle was later determined to be stolen. The man, identified as Ronnie Yordrickas Guanipa Crinosas, told law‑enforcement officers that he had heard voices in his head and that they were urging him to come to Washington, D.C., and kill Republican President Donald Trump. Inside the car, agents found three firearms and dozens of spent shells. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Crinosas is a Venezuelan citizen who has been in the United States illegally. Records indicate that he entered the country through Texas in March 2024. He is currently being held in a U.S. Marshals Service detention facility. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullins said the Secret Service’s actions prevented a potential threat. “Because of the bravery of our Secret Service employees, this illegal foreign national, who had three firearms in his vehicle, was detained near the White House before anyone could be harmed,” Mullins stated. The White House has not issued a statement on the incident and has directed journalists to contact the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service for further information. This event follows a similar incident earlier in the summer when U.S. agents detained a gun‑armed individual near the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The club was hosting a charity dinner that President Trump was expected to attend. Federal agents observed a 38‑year‑old man named Janin John Tele in civilian clothing, who was suspected of photographing and filming the area in preparation for the president’s visit.
