Turkish Astronaut Tuva Cihangir Atasever Visits Çorum Schools to Share Space Experience Çorum, Turkey – Turkish astronaut Tuva Cihangir Atasever met with students at Atatürk Anatolian High School in Çorum, where he discussed his experiences in space and the scientific work conducted aboard the International Space Station (ISS). According to a statement from the provincial Directorate of National Education, Atasever was part of a “Genç AR‑GE” (Youth R&D) team that organized the event. During the program, he explained the nature of microgravity experiments and highlighted Turkey’s participation in space missions. “At 2024, under the Turkish Astronaut and Science Mission, we carried out two crewed missions,” Atasever said. “During those missions, we performed 20 scientific studies in microgravity conditions.” He added that the ISS, which orbits approximately 410 kilometres above Earth at a speed of about 27,000 kilometres per hour, was built over 12 years at a cost exceeding $100 billion. “It is arguably the most complex engineering structure humanity has ever built, essentially functioning as a laboratory for scientific experiments,” he explained. Atasever emphasized that one of the goals of Turkey’s space program is to test the work of Turkish scientists in a microgravity environment. He also shared insights from his training in the United States, Germany, and Japan, and answered questions from the students following his presentation. Article and image source: Haberler
